Ice (Methamphetamine)

             ICE (METHAMPHETAMINE) 

Methamphetamine is a powerful stimulant, commonly known as a Crystal Meth. It is formed from Ephedrine/ Pseudo ephedrine which are extracted and treated with lithium or ammonia with water. Then some type of solvent is used to extract the meth, it is heated with acid to form crystals.

It is developed in 1800's in Japan and has a long history of use. It is also used in World War II by military in order to make themselves active and awake. It is imported from Iran and Afghanistan to Pakistan. It is used greatly in Karachi and less commonly in Islamabad, Lahore and Peshawar. It is a common drug of abuse because of its ability to produce effects quickly and produce extreme euphoria. After Heroine, it is used commonly and is very expensive. One packet sold for about 5000 to 10000 PKR. It is used by University students, Bankers, Businessman. It can only be afford by rich people because it is very expensive. The story of ice started in night parties in Pakistan.

The Government cannot stop the spread of ice because those who want it, will get it from everywhere. There are different groups of people who are assigned for the selling of ice. It is also sold online on Facebook. Its sold is illegal but although it is used very rarely as a medicines. It is available in the form of white powder, pills and crystals so can consumed by swallowing, smoking, injecting and snoring. It increases the release of Dopamine which increases the feeling of Euphoria(feeling of well being). Over use of drugs cause Psychosis, Heart attack, Seizures and death.
